Introducing SharePoint 2010 Business Intelligence • Delivered as a suite of components and service applications that deliver business information to drive decisions • Emphasizes familiar interfaces, self-service capabilities and interactive experiences • Benefits: • Helps all of your people be decision makers • Improves your company’s efficiency • Makes IT more efficient • SharePoint 2010 Business Intelligence (BI)is only delivered with SharePoint Enterprise “BI for everyone!”

Chart Web Part • Supports configuring a chart without the need to develop code or a write a data query • Includes a comprehensive list of chart types • Data can be retrieved from: • Other Web Parts sited on the page • SharePoint lists • Business Data Catalog • Excel Services • A menu allows users to modify data and appearance, and configure advanced properties • Can be filtered with Filter Web Parts

  8. Status List Web Part • Supports introducing status indicators • Status data can be retrieved from: • SharePoint lists • Excel Services • Analysis Services, or • Fixed values • Can be filtered by Filter Web Parts

Excel Services • Supports the server-side calculation and browser-based rendering of Excel workbooks • Useful when users need to share content in a workbook with others in the organization • Use for: • Real-time, interactive reporting with support for parameters • Exposure of all or part of a workbook (e.g., intellectual property can be hidden from workbook consumers) • Development of analytical solutions • The Excel Web Access Web Part supports embedding workbook reports into Web Part Pages

PerformancePoint Services • Performance Management (PM) application • Defines rich KPI and scorecard definitions to support monitoring • Includes comprehensive report types to support analysis • Delivers interactive browser-based dashboards • Dashboard solutions are based on seven related elements

Reporting Services Integration • SQL Server Reporting Services can be integrated with the SharePoint farm • Report Builder 3.0 is the rich client authoring tool that can be installed direct from SharePoint • Reports can be saved to SharePoint libraries • Management and delivery functions are available within the SharePoint interface • The SQL Server Reporting Services Web Part supports embedding reports into Web Part Pages

PowerPivot Integration • PowerPivot empowers end users to create self-service BI solutions in Excel 2010 • PowerPivot facilitates the sharing and collaboration of end user PowerPivot solutions in SharePoint Server 2010 • These capabilities are achieved by two add-ins: • SQL Server PowerPivot for Excel Add-in • SQL Server PowerPivot for SharePoint Add-in

PowerPivot IntegrationContinued • Provides centralized storage, data refresh and management of workbooks created by using PowerPivot for Excel • Uses Excel Services to enable browser access to workbooks • Complements traditional Analysis Services implementations by supporting integration of data sources external to corporate systems • Includes tools for IT to monitor usage of specific workbooks and server impact
