    3. Youth… Youth is the age of pride for each individual. In the eye of the society, youth represents youngness, sturdiness, nimbleness, sweetness, happiness, perfection and beauty. This is because the youth is the most dominant and influential group and they have high physical and mental strength. 3

    4. Inheritor to leadership and life The life of youth is developed through the Holy Quran and Tradition. The Holy Quran and sirah has recorded the story of the youths who have struggled for excellence. For example, the Holy Quran mentioned the story of seven youths who have strong faith in Allah swt.. King Daqyanus has threatened to execute all of them if they refused to worship idol. However, they refused and held strongly to their faith. 4

    5. Al-Kahfi: 18, 13-14 “We relate to thee their story in truth: they were youths who believed in their Lord, And We advanced them in guidance. We gave strength to their hearts. Behold, they stood up and said: “Our Lord is The Lord of the heavens and the earth: never shall we call upon any god other than Him: if we did, we should indeed have uttered an enormity!”. 5

Usamah Bin Zaid was appointed as the army commander to liberate Palestine when he was 18 years old. Imam Syafie was given the trust to give legal rulings by his teacher who was the mufti when he was 15. Muhammad al-Fateh conquered Constantinople when he was 21. 7

Uqbah Bin Nafi’:- Prayed to Allah S.W.T at the western end of atlantic ocean beach, ”O Allah, if not because of this wide ocean which has become the obstacle, for sure I would conquer the world in spreading Your Word, O My Lord, witness”. 8

    9. On the other hand, in the Eastern Horizon, Qutaibah al-Baakhily kept on conquering until he reached Mainland China. At one point, his friend lamentably counseled him ,”O Qutaibah, when are you going to stop this struggle of yours, in fact you have conquered Turkey and have endured many obstacles”. However, with strong spirit and glowing faith, Qutaibah replied,”I am confident with the help of Allah S.W.T. I will go on because all of the equipment will be useless when the time has passed”. 9

    10. To maximise self potential There are 873,238 youths in the Malaysian public and private universities and from that number, about 26,000 are in UTM. These valuable assets need to be protected , nurtured, guided and educated so that they can show the beauty of Islam in their daily lives. 10

    11. Some Islamic scholars state that the best gift Allah has given man is his youth. Youth is the productive period, to develop and to build. 11 (Surah al-Rum: 54)

This involvement has enabled the youth to play certain roles in the changes experienced by a certain society. 12
