Is the end of paper the end?

The increasing use of electronic records and the implications for health records as a primary source of information have to be recognised, as does the increasing role and right that service users have to understand and influence the information held about them.

There are therefore four main elements for checking accuracy of data:

  • checking against the health record;

  • checking with external systems;

  • checking items with service users (see requirement 9-402);

  • checking the process for information capture.
