1. DOWNLOADING FILES FROM THE OERB Student/Parent version (search 2.0)

2. Step 1: log onto: resources.elearningontario.ca Userid: kpdsbstudent Password: oerbs Student code

3. This is the home screen for the OERB.You can search for topics here.

4. There are several ways to search. The first is to do a simple search. Simply type in the topic and click the simple search button. Using the search options you can choose language of the resource/curriculum and results per page displayed

5. Enter in a topic, set search options and hit simple search Language/Curriculum were set to English. Both Catholic and Public boards were chosen and the display was set to 200/page The type of file that is used to create the resource is listed here. To check out the resource click here or click on the title. This will allow you to view and use the resource but not to save it.

6. Along the side are listed different filters that can further refine your search. Clicking on interactive learning will give you all files under geometry that are interactive. Clicking on visual spatial will give those files from the geometry search that are visual spatial in nature.

7. Clicking on the interactive filter leaves only those files that are interactive. Clicking on the red x will return you to the entire search

8. Using the ELO # to search will send you directly to a specific resource. This is the resource ID # or the ELO # This very useful when using the OERB with students, using it for differentiated instruction or credit recovery.

9. Searching using grade/cirriculum Click on browse by curriculum Select the grade. If you want all grade 7 material click browse by grade. If you want to be more specific pick the subject.

10. If you want all grade 7 History resources click browse by subject. If you want to be more specific click on browse by strand.

11. If you want all resources dealing with grade 7 History-British North America (all expectations), click browse by strand. If you want to search a specific expectation select the expectation and click on browse by expectation.

12. Once your resources are chosen you have the option of filtering out some of them using a key word search. If we add Loyalist to the key word search it will refine our search.

13. Adding the keyword search refines our resources from 15 to 3

14. A d v a n c e d s e a r c h You can have up to ten lines allowing you to run a very specific advance search.

15. Once you have the resources you want on the page you may sort them in various different ways. One such way is by ordering them by most frequently downloaded to least frequently downloaded

16. How to download files To download this file once you have previewed click on the download button

17. Click save to save the zip file

18. Save the zip file to a folder set up for keeping zip files organized. Change the file name to one that usable for you Click save to save zip file to folder

19. After the download is complete clicking open will take you directly to the zip file.

20. These are the zip files. To unzip them click on the extract all files button

21. A wizard should popup after you click on the extract all files. It will decompress the files for you

22. Use the browse button to select the folder you want the unzipped file to be saved to. It is recommended that you create a separate file for each resource you download. Click next and the file will be extracted and saved to the file you directed it to. Click finish when the extraction is complete and you will be taken to the saved unzipped file.

23. To know what file to click on to run the resource be sure to read the file marked “read me”.

24. To run this file you must first open the CGW4U2A09 folder and then click on the file named overview.html

25. Opening this file will run the resource

27. Now go back in and delete the zip files as they are no longer needed.
