Highlight of Current Activities • Integrated Broadcast-Broadband (IBB) Systems are emerged • IBB Systems are discussed in ITU-R / ITU-T • Hybridcast is an IBB system developed in Japan • Standard specifications for Hybridcast has been completed at ARIB & IPTV-Forum Japan • Hybridcast enhances broadcast services by simultaneous use of Internet content • Hybridcast is using HTML5 • Hybridcast service will start soon

Strategic Direction (2/2) • Provide safe information to viewers • When disaster occurs, emergency warnings form broadcasting are given priority on receivers • Provide reliable and secure information to viewers • Keep off unintended behavior from malicious activities • Provide new business opportunities • For broadcasters, network operators, service providers, content providers and manufacturers

  5. Challenges • Preservation of content integrity for protecting rights holders from unlawful activities • Effective production of various program related content for broadcasters • Introduction of accurate cross-stream synchronization

  6. Next Steps / Actions • Early establishment of world standard for IBB systems • Collaboration with network operators to allow concentration of viewers’ access to program related content

Proposed Resolution • It is proposed to add the following sentences to the present resolution: Considering: e) that technologies for newly emerged integrated broadcast-broadband (IBB) systems could be of value to enrich IPTV services further. Resolves: - also encourage the exchange of information on enhanced content delivery systems in collaboration with IP for IBB systems.
