  2. Introduction • Old McDonald had a farm… and today you are going to visit it. While you are there, you are going to learn how to say the names of all his animals. Also, with an oink oink here and a oink oink there… you are going to learn the noises that some of the animals make. By the end of this Webquest you are going to be able to call out the animals names so well, it will sound like old McDonald said it himself.

  3. Task • Before you head to Old McDonald’s farm you will need to grab our recorders and phonics phones from our backpacks. you are going to use the internet to help us explore Old McDonalds farm. Your are going to write in your journal along the way to keep track of the names you’ve learned. You are also going to record yourself saying the animals names, and at the end record yourself reading about them. Remember to repeat the activities if you get the wrong answer.

  4. Process Process • First, you will watch a short video, as Aaron explains everything about a farm. http://blip.tv/hooked-on-phonics/aaron-explains-everything-on-the-farm-3351796 • Write down the name of every farm animal you met in your journal, then tell me which one was your favorite. • Watch the video a second time pausing after Aaron says the name of each animal. Practice saying the names into your phonics phones. • Extra help: below you will find a link to an English- Spanish picture dictionary. Click on the book.

  5. Process Process • Next, your going to help Nina find things that belong on a farm. Click the word to hear the reader say the word. • Next, say the word into your phonics phones and then into your recorder. • Finally drag the pictures of things that belong on a farm into the box. • When your done, write the names of all the things that ended up in the box in your journals. http://teacher.scholastic.com/activities/bll/nina/farm/ • Play a second game, once you put all the correct items in the box the game will start again with different pictures.

  6. Process Process • Here is a phonics activity. You will say the name of the farm animal, paying special attention to the beginning sound of the word. Once you determine the beginning sound of the word, decide what letter makes that sound, and then click on that letter below the animal. • If you are correct, use your back button and continue on with the next animal. If not, hit the back button and try again. • When you get the first letter sound right, write the name of the animal in your journal. http://www.kiddyhouse.com/Farm/farmphonics.html

  7. Process Process • It’s time to play a game! In the link you will find a memory card game with a twist. In the top row, are pictures of farm animals that need to be matched up with their names. In the bottom row, you will hear a speaker say the animal’s name. Your task is to match the picture with the name. Keep doing this until all the matches have been found. http://www.eslgamesworld.com/members/games/vocabulary/memoryaudio/farm%20animals/index.html
