Christ’s Person (Who He is) John 3:14-18 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15) that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. 16) "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17) For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18) Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

  3. Christ’s Person (Who He is) Matthew 17:5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!"

Christ’s Person (Who He is) Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20) and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." John 1:1-2 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2) He was with God in the beginning.   9. Christ’s Person (Who He is) Matthew 9:1-8 Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town. 2) Some men brought to him a paralytic, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven." 3) At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, "This fellow is blaspheming!" 4) Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, "Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? 5) Which is easier: to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'? 6) But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins. . . ." Then he said to the paralytic, "Get up, take your mat and go home." 7) And the man got up and went home. 8) When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to men.

  11. Christ’s Person (Who is he?) Jesus is called God. Jesus is described as God. Jesus acts like God. Therefore JESUS CHRIST IS TRUE GOD!

Christ’s Person (Who He is) 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, Matthew 21:9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the highest!"

  16. Christ’s Person (Who He is) Matthew 4:2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. Mark 4:38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?" John 11:35 Jesus wept. John 19:28 Later, knowing that all was now completed, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, "I am thirsty.“ See also Matthew 26 & 27

  17. Christ’s Person (Who He is) c. He acts like a Man – hungry, tired, wept, thirsty, suffered, died

  18. Christ’s Person (Who is he?) Jesus is called Man. Jesus is described as a Man. Jesus acts like a Man. Therefore JESUS CHRIST IS TRUE MAN!

  19. Jesus is God and man in one person. Incarnation = God taking on human flesh or becoming man. Christ’s Person (Who He is) *Colossians 2: 9 In Christ all the fullness of the deity lives in bodily form.

  21. As a Man Jesus lived a perfect life under the law in our place. Jesus suffered and died for our sins. As God His perfect life and his innocent death counted for everyone. Christ’s Person (Who He is)

  22. Christ’s Person (Who He is) The God-man is our Redeemer. Redeemer = one who buys back or pays a price to set us free

  23. Christ’s Person (Who He is) Matthew 1:23 "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" --which means, "God with us.“ Through the virgin birth God got into the world the Savior we all need, one who is both God and man.

  24. (Matthew 3:16) As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. *(Acts 10:38) how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him. Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit at his baptism. Christ was anointed as our High Priest Prophet King Christ’s Office (His Official Position)

  25. (John 1:29) The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! (Hebrews 7:27) Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. As our HIGH PRIEST, Christ Sacrificed himself once for all. Christ’s Office (His Official Position)

  26. *(1 Timothy 2:5) For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, (1 John 2:1) My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. As our HIGH PRIEST, Christ Pleads (intercedes) for us before God.   27. (Matthew 17:5) While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!" (John 20:19-23) On the evening of that first day of the week, … Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" …As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." 22) And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 23) If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven." As our Prophet, Christ Personally revealed the message of salvation known while he was on earth. Makes the message of salvation known through Christians. Christ’s Office (His Official Position)

  28. (Luke 17:21) nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you." (Ephesians 1:22-23) And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23) which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. As our King, Christ Rules in our hearts through his Word. Rules over the whole universe for the good of his church and those who believe in him. Christ’s Office (His Official Position)
