  1. Not What We Expected Exodus 17:1-7

  2. Not What We Expected • We have all been dissatisfied with life’s results. • When we are dissatisfied, who gets the blame? • Leaders • Family • God: Testing or Trusting?

  3. Not What We Expected • God wants to meet our need! • God calls us to trust him.

  4. When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea. The Israelites went up out of Egypt armed for battle. Exodus 13:17

  5. Not What We Expected • God wants to meet our need! • God calls us to trust him. • God reminds us of his faithfulness. • God provides others to help us. • God promises to be withus.

  6. He split the rocks in the desert and gave them water as abundant as the seas; he brought streams out of a rocky crag and made water flow down like rivers. Psalm 78:15-16

  7. He opened the rock, and water gushed out; like a river it flowed in the desert. For he remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham. He brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy; Psalm 105:41-43
