Background • ANSI/EIA-748-A • Approved May 19, 1998 • Reaffirmed August 28, 2002 • Reaffirm required every 5 years - 2007 • Reaffirm Steps • GEIA Project Initiation Notification System Form • Informs ANSI of the initiation • GEIA Ballot (Standards compliance) • ANSI Vote (American Industry concurrence)

Reaffirm - Revision • Reaffirm (Requires less time for ANSI vote) • Normative content (Section 2 & 3) unchanged • Informative content can have clarification updates • Typically 6 months & no non concurrence • Revision (Requires all voting comments be disposition to the satisfaction of submitter & no non concurrence) • Normative content (Section 2 and 3) changes = Revision • Informative content major changes = Revision • Can take up to 2 years

Recommended Path Forward • ANSI/EIA-748-A Reaffirm Path • Foreword and Introduction remain unchanged • Section 2 and 3 remain unchanged • Section 4 and 5 minor clarifications to reflect guides • ANSI/EIA-748-A Project Plan • GEIA Project Notification (FEB 2006) • PMSC define clarifications (MAY 2006) • ANSI/EIA-748 update ready for GEIA (JAN 2007) • EIA 748 ballot by GEIA standards body (FEB 2007) • EIA 748 ANSI Members Vote (MAY 2007)
