Children’s Industry • The DEMAND is there! • Media – Film: Sherina (2000), Joshua oh Joshua (2001), Untuk Rena, Denias Senandung diatas Awan, Liburan Seru, Laskar Pelangi (2008) • Media – Music: Music recordings and albums for kids decline in the 2000s but the market is still there (eg. OST of Liburan Seru) • Media – TV: Sepanjang Jalan (Sesame Street) broadcast on TV in 2008 • Media – Books: Magazines such as Bobo, Mombi still survive today • Event: Cartoon Network – Jumping castle at Istora Senayan Tang Orange Drink – Family event Tour to Beijing (with Kids) campaign di Plaza Senayan Barney and Friends Tour • Entertainment Outlets: Kidzania (Pacific Place) (SES: A, B+) Mals (with kids area – GI, Artha Gading, MOI, Senayan City etc) Ancol, Dunia Fantasi Tour (For higher end economy class) Waterbom Jakarta PIK (middle and higher economy)

Aim Children’s Industry Education, Information, Entertainment BUT  There is a lack of guidance to children, parents and teachers on the suitable available media that is both entertaining and educational for children (themselves, their kids and students) Opportunities, Creativity, Guidance, Exhibition BUT  There is a lack of opportunities / platform to encourage children’s creativity and exhibition Cost Effective BUT  Fun sometimes means expensive recreational activities

AIM • To create a cost effective, educational, informative and entertaining event which offers children the opportunities and guidance to view creative exhibitions so to trigger inspirations and encourage them to release their creativity, and later offering them an exhibition space to show it to a wide audience • To encourage the improvements of children’s media by promoting children’s media and providing a platform for discussions by children’s media practitioners, parents and children workers

DISCUSSION FORUMS Forums (30 May & 6 June Saturdays) offered for Parents, Teachers and Visual Media Practitioners: Parents, some topics of discussion include: Children & Media Choosing the right media, what children of different age groups need Teachers, some topics of discussion include: Media and the class curriculum, making class fun with media Learning through media, teaching children film analysis Media Practitioners, some topics of discussion include: Trends of media in Indonesia and Internationally (TV programs, Films, Music, Games) New upcoming innovation and technology What children are interested of and the creative approaches of these media Choosing the right media and the methodology of presenting right messages for different age groups Forums (30 May & 6 June) offered for Authors, Illustrators & Publishers in the Print Media: Authors & Illustrators, some topics of discussion include: Trends, problems, solutions, experiences of children authors and illustrators Methods and creative approaches in writing and illustrating for children Distributors/Publishers, some topics of discussion include: What publishers are looking for Trends, problems and experiences in the local and international markets

Age Groups • 3-6yo • 7-12yo • 13-16yo • Family (Adults and children) FILMS & EXHIBITION • 9 days (30 May – 7 June 2009) • More than 50 films screened during the festival exhibition • Film Screenings at participating theatres and function halls • Selected 21 Theatres & Blitz Megaplex for public Screenings (minimum 4 audi) • Invitations for schools to participate in the screenings on weekdays (school outings): • Goethe Haus: 3 - 6 yo Screening and storytelling performance by invited guests (international or local storytellers, puppeteers and children TV personnel such as Sesame Street Indonesia, Si Unyil, Nickelodeon etc) • Erasmus Huis: 7 – 12 yo Screening and Animation Bazaar (various outlets where children can try out some hands-on activities to make their own animation or learn about animation) • Dependent on Registration: CCF & Japan Foundation: 7-12 & 13-16 yo Animation and Digital Filmmaking Workshop • MOI & Blitz Megaplex: 13 - 16 yo and Public Screening and Exhibition in GOELALI Island • Filmmaking Arena outlets where children can explore and try out/experience the stages in filmmaking such as working the dolly on the tracks, recording on a camera, taking a photo on green screen • Books and Games Corner will also be available for the young audience • Films from all over the world about children, for children and even by children – promotes multi culture, diverse backgrounds, appreciation and creativity • Various films are catered for different age groups, noted in the catalogues (timetables given out) • Group bookings, presales are allowed on a first come first serve basis • All children are allowed to vote for the Audience Choice Award Film Categories Feature Films Shorts Animations Workshop Participants
