ALGARVE DESTINATION PROFILE Location: Southern most region in Portugal framed by a 200km coastline with beautiful sandy coves, sheltered bays, fascinating cliff formations and long golden beaches • Climate: • The Algarve has a warm and sunny climate with mild winters. Summer temperatures can reach above 30c and the winter temperatures stay between 10-15c • UK visitor arrivals: • The Algarve saw over 1.2 million British visitors passing through the doors of Faro airport from January to September 2009 which is just -7% compared with 2008 • The UK, therefore, is still the number one market for the Algarve and it continues to be a popular choice for UK holidaymakers in 2009
