A MESSAGE FOR EVERY 2012 GRADUATE: I’m 1 of the 300Judges 7:1-7/ 16-22 INTRODUCTION: (1.)LEAST LIKELY TO SUCCEED was an award in high school given to the person with the worse grades. -Some of these people we counted out ended up being successful. -Such Is The Case In God’s Kingdom: God specializes in using those of us who are least likely to succeed. (2.)In Judges 6:12-15, God calls Gideon who is Least Likely To Succeed. -VS.15 Gideon is poor, weak, small, and young. -GOD CALLS US IN SPITE OF; NOT BECAUSE OF!

A MESSAGE FOR EVERY 2012 GRADUATE: I’m 1 of the 300Judges 7:1-7/ 16-22 INTRODUCTION: (3.)In Judges 6:12, God calls Gideon “…thou mighty man of valour.” -VS.15 Gideon calls himself “….poor, weak, small, and young.” -Am I speaking what God says or what people say about me? (4.)In Judges 6:12, God tells Gideon, I am with you. -VS.13 Gideon says all this destruction would not have happened if God was with them. -Israel was ruined because of their own disobedience. -Gideon & US blame God & others when WE ARE AT FAULT!

  3. A MESSAGE FOR EVERY 2012 GRADUATE: I’m 1 of the 300Judges 7:1-7/ 16-22 BODY: ISRAEL STARTED WITH 32,000 MEN BUT ONLY 300 MEN MADE THE CUT TO FIGHT THE MIDIANITES. WHAT DISTINGUISHED THE 300 FROM THE 32,000? WHAT DISTINGUISHES THE GRADUATES FROM THOSE WHO GET A JOB? (A.)VS.2 God tells Gideon he has to many for God to allow him to win the battle. -If God let them win with that many, they’d be prideful. -God sent people home for two reasons: (1.)To Humble the Israelites: VICTORY REQUIRES HUMILITY! (2.)Everybody you count, you can’t count on: VICTORY REQUIRES THE RIGHT COMPANY.

  4. A MESSAGE FOR EVERY 2012 GRADUATE: I’m 1 of the 300Judges 7:1-7/ 16-22 BODY: (B.)VS.3 God told Gideon to send the people home who were fearful and 22,000 people went home. (3.)I can separate myself and be 1 of the 300 by having COURAGE! (C.)VS.4-6 God told Gideon to bring 10,000 men to the river for a drink. 9,700 men kneeled to drink with their faces down and had to go home. 300 men drank the water as if lapping like a dog and were able to remain. (4.)I can separate myself and be 1 of the 300 by STAYING ALERT!

A MESSAGE FOR EVERY 2012 GRADUATE: I’m 1 of the 300Judges 7:1-7/ 16-22 BODY: (D.)VS.16 Gideon divided/organized the 300 into 3 companies and gave them a trumpet and a lamp for battle. -For organization to take place, people must follow orders. -The Israelites took a trumpet & lamp to battle when the enemy had traditional weapons: CRAZY? (5.)I can separate myself and be 1 of the 300 by learning to follow orders even when I don’t understand. (E.)VS.16 Gideon divided/organized the 300 into 3 companies and gave them a trumpet and lamp for battle. -Trumpet=Praise Metaphor (Psalms 150:3) -Lamp=Word Metaphor (Psalms 119:105) (6.)I can separate myself and be 1 of the 300 by KEEPING GOD INVOLVED.

A MESSAGE FOR EVERY 2012 GRADUATE: I’m 1 of the 300Judges 7:1-7/ 16-22 CLOSE: (1.)VS.21-22 The enemy flees and turns against each other. -3 Things That Caused The Enemy To Flee: (a.)The Praise of the People (metaphor) (b.)The Word of God (metaphor) (c.)A Lifestyle That Matched Their Spirituality -Church people must do more than shout and read Scripture at work in the secular world. *OUR LIFESTYLE MUST MATCH OUR SPIRITUALITY!
