  2. Teamwork • Context of both situations: How do we present teamwork to the class? • Situation 1: A group learning how to be a team. Deconstructive feedback. • Situation 2: A team making progress. Constructive feedback.

  3. Reflections on dramatizations • How many of you have ever found yourself on a team (work, school, etc…) that resembles situation one? • How about situation number two?

  4. Why do organizations need teams? • Teams outperform individuals acting alone or in large organizational groups,especially when performance requires multiple skills, judgements and experiences. • Most people recognize the capabilities of teams, and most have the common sense to make teams work. • Teams are profitable!

  5. Why do people need teams? • Security (support system) • Status • Self-esteem • Affiliation (sense of belonging – Teams are Fun!) • Power (strength in numbers) • Goal Achievement

  6. Let’s Talk About Teams • What essential characteristics must a real team have? • Give an example of a problem that requires a team to solve? • How do you know that a team is successful? • Give an example of team building exercises you’ve done with your company.
