The group was formed in 2001 by Danny O'Donoghue (lead vocals and keyboards) and Mark Sheehan (guitar and vocals), who previously performed on Mytown. Mytown's debut album was a failure, and after the band disbanded, Danny and Mark moved to the United States, where they engaged in producing activities with artists such as The Neptunes, Rodney Jerkins, Teddy Riley, and Dallas Austin, and a few years later, deciding to create a new group, returned to the homeland, in Dublin, where drummer Glen Power joined them, and they became known as The Script.
