The Purpose of CUPA • To serve as the governing body of the sport of Ultimate, representing the interests of the sport and all ultimate players in Canada; • To promote the growth and development of the sport of Ultimate throughout Canada; • To act as the vehicle through which the ongoing activities of the sport of Ultimate are organized, including, but not limited to, overseeing national and international competition, developing and disseminating educational programs and serving as a medium for the exchange of information;

  6. Current Situation • Limited Resources • Part-time Executive Director: 10 hours/week • Revenue limited to competitive memberships from CUC & CUUC participants & surpluses • Small pool of volunteers

  7. New Relationship with PSOs • In order to develop national programs and move forward CUPA will need additional resources and support • PSO partners are needed to support future growth.

  8. PSO Support Requested • Collection of Demographics • Distribution of Digital Magazine • Volunteer Recruitment • Financial Support • $500/CUPA region in 2008 • $2/Ultimate player in 2009

  9. Why the ODSA Should Invest in the CUPA • Strong National Body is needed to operate national programs • Investment for the future. • Potential for future grants • Support junior programming… a key to the future growth of sport • National programs will help develop the sport

  10. 2008 Accomplishments • Canadian League Conference • Applied to Sport Canada for recognition and funding • Adopted new policies • Audited statements for 2007 fiscal year • National observer program launched at CUC 2008 • NCCP application process has begun • New digital magazine to launch October 15th

  11. Canadian Leagues Conference • November 8-9 in Toronto, Ontario • CUPA AGM will take place on the 9th • National restructuring will be a major topic • Presentations made by leagues from across the country on a variety of topics
