  1. WELCOME Strategy for Enhancing Chickpea Production during Rabi 2013-14 19 September, 2013 DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURERAJASTHAN, JAIPUR

  2. Year Wise Area, Production and Yield of Rabi Pulse Crops

  3. Year wise Area, Production and Yield of Gram Crop

  4. Strategy of Improving Pulses Productivity and Production Availability of high yielding and short duration certified varieties of Chickpea crop. Promotion of Seed treatment. Popularization of Soil Health Card for Balance application of fertilizers. Promotion of gypsum and micronutrients application. Timely availability of inputs. Popularization of Integrated Pest Management for the control of pest and diseases. Promotion of efficient water application methods for additional area coverage under irrigation. Minimization of post harvest losses of grains. Transfer of technical knowledge to the farmers through different training programmes. Increase in area of Chickpea through Inter cropping.

  5. Action Plan for 2013-14 • Increase in Seed Replacement Rate (SRR) from 13.75 (2012-13) to 14.19 (2013-14). • Distribution of 1.00 lac qtl Certified Seed on subsidy. • Organization of 25000 cluster Demonstration on Gram crop. • Application of micronutrient in 48000 ha and gypsum in 128800 ha area. • Rainwater harvesting through 10000 Farm Ponds for life saving irrigations. • Installation of sprinkler in 45,000 ha for efficient application of water. Organization of Gram demonstration in 34700 ha area under A3P. • Additional A3P gram demonstration in 68000 ha has been proposed under additional area coverage programme. • Sufficient provision for Plant Protection measures. • Capacity building of Farmers through trainings programmes. • Distribution of soil health cards at Panchayat level for application of balance fertilizers.

  8. Specific Constraints of Pulses Production Productivity of Moong crops is low because it is grown on marginal and sub-marginal lands under rainfed / un-irrigated conditions. Rains during later stage deteriorate quality and create problem in harvesting of crop. Inadequate availability of quality seed of improved varieties. Inadequate and imbalanced use of nutrients. Moisture stress during long dry spell and inadequate rains. Incidence of insect-pests, diseases and weeds. Damages by Blue bull and losses during threshing and post harvest storage.
