  2. Summary of Lesson The assignment for this unit is to make a business card for a pizza restaurant using Microsoft Office Publisher. The purpose of a business card is to announce one’s identity, presence, and the intention to conduct business. Some design tips you should consider before you create you card: • The business card is small, plan your design carefully. • The overall look and feel of the business card should match the pizza business. • Stick to one font to create a clean and easy-to-read business card. • Obtain some samples of real business cards and analyze them to help you design your own.

  3. Content and information to include on your business card: • The Frillio’s Pizza logo from your flashdrive. • The following contact information: • Name and Job Title: Mr. Joe Frillio, Owner and Pizza-Maker Extraordinaire • Address: 111 Pepperoni Drive, Saucy, CA 92888 • Phone Number: 1-888-FRILLIO • Fax Number: 1-888-654-7814 • Web site: http://www.frilliospizza.com • E-mail address: Owner@FrilliosPizza.com • Be sure to refer to the “Grading Rubric” to ensure the highest possible grade. • Name your project “Business Card” and save to your flashdrive.

  10. Reflections This assignment is a perfect opportunity for the students to use their creativity while producing a document that is used everyday. When standardized tests are used, the students are expected to give the same answer. Using student produced documents allow students to express themselves at a different level. Every student can take the same information; produce their own final product, and all receive a grade of 100 even though they are all different. Student produced work allows students to express themselves and show their abilities in a whole other light. The students are motivated to create quality work and are proud of their accomplishments. This assignment not only allows the students to show their creative side but it also exposes the students to real world situations. These experiences are all positive.
