  2. Element of the day • 52 – Tellurium – Te • Tellurium’s name comes from the latin word for earth. It is a silver metalloid. • Exposure to tellurium can leave you smelling like rotten garlic for weeks. • Tellurium is one of the rarest of all elements, but does find use in re-writeable discs in tellurium suboxide.
