  2. :: in-class sites of the day • W3School’s Online Web Tutorials • http://www.w3schools.com • Ikena flash demo • http://users.erols.com/needcoffee/animation/pops/p_kpe_ikenaa.html • The Samsung “Ellipse” for Mayu • http://product.samsung.com/cgi-bin/nabc/mysamsung/b2c_mysamsung_index.jsp?eUser= • http://www.samsung.com/AboutSAMSUNG/index.htm • http://product.samsung.com/cgi-bin/nabc/product/b2c_product_index.jsp?eUser= • http://product.samsung.com/cgi-bin/nabc/support/b2c_support_index.jsp?eUser=

  3. :: today’s agenda • In class demonstration • Rounded corners using the auto-shape tool • Work on your comps in class • What are your new themes?(you still need a total of least 3) • (Speak to me if you forgot from our critique) • Take some time before you start your revisions to make some new sketches • Take elements from existing designs and evolve them into a more polished form. • things to think of: • background color • page width & ortientation • css typesetting & hierarchy

  4. :: homework due next week :: 9.26.05 • Home page comps – round #2 • purpose/objective: • To conceptually experiment visually by taking risks.. • To defend the conceptual merits of your own designs. • To design the most effective user interface for your targeted audience. • To meet the needs and deadlines dictated by your client. • assignment: Based upon the feedback from your 1st round of comps, make informed changes to your visual layouts. Revise your themes by omitting those that are not working and expanding upon those that are working. Revise the names of themes to clarify the visual direction of your designs. Be honest with yourself and true to your client; if nothing is working, then start from scratch with a complete new set of designs for round 2. If certain elements are working conceptually, but not visually, then redesign them in such a way that communicates a strong aesthetic and level of completeness. Pay attention to the details of your design. • format: no less than three designs in three different thematic directions. You may use a combination of photoshop and illustrator to execute your designs digitally. Use lorem ipsums in the place of any copy not yet written. Technical details: • A minimum of 3 JPEG images in three different thematic directions – (1000 x 800 pixels in dimension, 100% max quality compression)

  5. :: post mortem • How smoothly did today’s class run? • What slowed us down? • What did we skip over? • How can we be more efficient in the future?
