  21. Samaritans • Cyrus commanded rebuilding of temple • Samaritans offered to help • Rejected by the Jews • Samaritans bribed local officials to stop building • Rumor that Jews were to rebel • Temple sat incomplete

  31. Nehemiah • Hypocrisy –greatest problem • Practiced slavery, but gave to the temple • Rich people giving little to Temple • Offering worst of their flocks • Nehemiah and Malachi speak out • Main message • Get rid of all sin to prepare for the Messiah • God wants righteousness/not “sacrifices”
