  1. As we understand that Patent Registration in UAE is an intellectual property for an innovator to innovate something new. It means Patent is not granted to anyone who is developing something. It is granted to that person or company who are inventing something which does not exist and which can facilitate public in any way.

  2. The invention must be not a version change or any advancement in the present technology, idea, or a product, it must be a non obvious thing. If someone is trying to do some changes in existing product, idea or technology and want it to be patent so it is not possible.

  3. Any innovation in the world is useful for the public and is in the use till now, so the invention must be useful for the public and government. If the invention does not meet the needs and is illegal or can harm the society then it cannot be patented. Patent registration in UAE is done by government, if the Government is satisfied to grant the patent then only the patent can be granted.

  4. As we know that UAE is a leading economy in the Middle East. It is the second largest economy in Arab after Saudi Arabia. UAE is famous for its infrastructure and Oil reserve. And it is estimated by experts that the GDP of UAE will be doubled by 2020.

  7. Patent protection in UAE is governed under the federal law. The protection period is of 20 years. It must be granted by government and the invention must be new and helpful. The patent application is filed in English and Arabic language. It is submitted with all the necessary and supporting documents. Other than this the patent application can also be supported by power of attorney and an assignment.

  8. Application is submitted with all the necessary documents, with the patent Application and examination fees to the Patent office. When the application is received the checking and examination of the patent application is processed. This is done by UAE patent office.

  9. The application is examined through all the necessary checks which approve that the technology, idea or product is new and innovative and it can be helpful to the world. If found something informal then they can reject. Otherwise they contact the concerned person for response and changes. After these discussion and submission the ministry of economic and commerce published in the gazette. If there is no objection received in 60 days, it is said to be that the applicant is the owner for this patent. Then the patent is issued to the applicant.
