  3. Lesson 1: Body Facts Your task this lesson is to explore information sources, such as reference books, the hotlist and the internet, to discover interesting number facts about the human body. For example, the rates of growth for human hair or fingernails, the world’s tallest man, or the total combined length of blood vessels in the body. Use Inspiration to present these facts in the form of labels surrounding a body. Click on the EYE to return to the CONTENTS page

  4. Lesson 2: Measure Me Your task this lesson is to use scales, tapes, rulers and other measuring tools to measure different parts of your body, you could do this with a partner. Record your data on the sheet provided and hand this in to Miss Dimos, Mr White or Yoong. The class will use this data as part of Lesson 3’s session. Your name will not be published with the data you supply. See your class teacher for a copy of the recording sheet. CHALLENGE Calculate the surface area of your skin. 5. Lesson 3 & 4 : Group Data This week you will create data tables for our collective group, using measurements gathered during the last session. You will learn about the mean, the medium and the mode – what they mean, when they are useful, and how to find them. You will graph some of your data and write a paragraph of explanation to accompany each graph. Click on the EYE to return to the CONTENTS page

  6. Lesson 5: Ratio, Proportions & Converting Lengths This lesson you will use some of the measurements we gathered in Lesson 2 to examine some of the proportions and ratios between different body parts. For example, is there a relationship between the length of the foot and the length of the leg that can be applied elsewhere on the body? Look at the measurements that you have taken in lesson 2. Can you convert these to show the same length differently? For e.g. Cm to Meters? Use the table provided Click on the EYE to return to the CONTENTS page
