  2. A Day in the Life This is Kirabo. She lives in Lesotho in Africa. We are going to find out about how she lives. Your task is to think about similarities and differences between how you live and how Kirabo lives?

  3. Can you find Lesotho? It is in Southern Africa!

  4. This is where Karabo and her family lives, near the small town of Morija in Lesotho.

  6. Karabo lives with her grandma and two brothers, her mother works far away in the city and her dad died of a disease

  7. Before school there are all sorts of jobs to do, like fetching water from a local well

  8. She sweeps in front of their house with a reed brush

  9. Then it's time for school. She goes to Morija School which is just below the hillside.

  11. The school has large classrooms as they have to hold 70 pupils in each class.

  12. They learn all sorts of things in their simple classrooms with lessons on: Sesotho (language of Lesotho), English, Maths, Agriculture, Social Studies, Health and Home Economics.

  14. The headteacher and staff get on well with the pupils, here are some of the teachers and a few of Karabo's classmates.

  15. After morning lessons they are given soup with bread.

  16. It’s pea soup today!

  17. And if there’s not enough, they share each other’s!

  19. When she gets home, she looks after their Keyhole Garden, where they grow some of their food.

  20. Why is it important to grow your own vegetables?

  21. They eat dinner (maize meal, soup and spinach) and get together with their neighbours to chat.

  22. Then it's time for homework. Getting a good education is really important to them and so they do their homework together before going to bed
