ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LPG

Liquefied petroleum gas is a flammable mixture of hydrocarbon gases such as propane and butane. LPG is used as fuel gas in heating appliances, cooking equipment, and vehicles. In this ppt you will learn from where LPG is extracted and how LPG is stored. Also what makes LPG different from others in terms of its properties. LPG is widely used by people all around the world as a cooking fuel because of its efficiency, portability and environmentally friendly nature .Safety tips which is one of the most important things to keep in mind while handling LPG is discussed in this ppt as well.<br>

  1. ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LPG BY AWAN GAS COMPANY

  2. WHAT IS LPG ? Liquefied petroleum gas, is a flammable mixture of hydrocarbon gases such as propane and butane. LPG is used as fuel gas in heating appliances, cooking equipment, and vehicles.

  3. WHERE DOES LPG COME FROM ? • LPG comes from drilling oil and gas wells. • It is a fossil fuel that does not occur in isolation. • LPG products are found naturally in combination with other hydrocarbon fuels, typically crude oil and natural gas. • LPG is produced during natural gas processing and oil refining. • It is isolated, liquefied through pressurisation and stored in pressure vessels.

  4. HOW IS LPG STORED ? LPG is stored in pressure vessels. As such, it is almost always stored in its liquid form. These can range from small camping cannisters to BBQ gas bottles to larger cylinders and much larger LPG tanks or bullets. LPG fuel storage depots may consist of very large storage spheres, known as Horton Spheres (see accompanying image). LPG can also be stored underground in specially built or prepared caverns.

  5. PROPERTIES OF LPG Nature of LPG State of LPG Environmentally friendly LPG by nature is colourless and odourless .It’s a mixture of propane and butane in varying compositions. LPG remains a gas at normal temperature. Therefore, in the cylinders at your home, it’s kept at a highly pressurized way to keep it in the liquid state. The liquid state is easy to handle and transport. LPG is non-toxic and hardly emits any harmful gases to the atmosphere

  6. WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER LPG AT HOME EFFICIENCY PORTABILITY CLEANER POWER LPG is an energy-rich fuel, with greater caloric value (heating value) compared to natural gas, coal, or other common fuels. LPG is a highly convenient fuel source, with gas cylinders easily delivered to homes in both urban and rural areas . LPG is cleaner than most other fossil fuels, with low sulphur content, low emissions of black carbon, and no spills.

  7. SAFETY TIPS IN CASE OF LPG EMERGENCY • Do not panic . • Open all doors & windows for ventilation. LPG is heavier than air and hence it tends to settle down. Opening doors must be the first step . • Put off all flames, lamps, incense sticks etc. • Put the safety cap back on the cylinder. • Close regulator and burner knobs. • Do not operate any electrical switches, appliance or equipment in the kitchen. • Isolate the electrical supply from the outside source. • Call your LPG dealer for emergency assistance • Try to isolate the cylinder to an open space and cover it with wet cloth. • Call the fire brigade and police if required.
