Life Member Chapters Goals/Objectives • Traditional Involvements • Take part in regular section activities • Provide assistance to local conferences • Publicize the financial advantage program • Arrange unique section technical programs • Promote IEEE to local technical firms • Network interests among themselves • Establish programs geared to LM interests • Pursue section projects to preserve history

Life Member Chapters Goals/Objectives • Community Involvements • Apply career skills toward community needs • Select from array of volunteer activities • Assess career gained skills to fill needs • Work through care-giver agencies/K-12 • Design/build devices for the handicapped • Go to RCRV at www.collinsclubs.com/rcrv • Volunteer in K-12 schools classrooms • Design/build scientific displays for K-12 • Work on United Way campaigns • Help develop small business thru SCORE • Collect used computers for K-12 donation

How to Form a Section LM Chapter • Prepare a Life Member chapter petition: • Use petition form (handout) • Section name • Name of the organizer/interim chair • List of section LM’s who will join chapter • Need minimum of 6 Life Members signatures • Must maintain minimum of 6 members • IEEE will provide up to $150/yr chapter costs

  5. Getting Approval • Submit petition to regional LM coordinator • LM coordinator gets section approval • Petition is submitted to IEEE LM chair • Regional activities dept issues charter
