How to graft and take care of avocado tree: • Select the budwood from a healthy avocado tree, preferably located near the ends of the branches and cut 6 inches of the same using a sharp knife. Take few cuttings, wrap them in damp towels to keep them moist and keep aside. • Make a T-shape cut of about 1 inch long on branch of the rootstock tree which is about 12 inches from the trunk. Then, select the healthiest bud from the ones kept aside and cut it from the stick, beginning 1/2 inch below the bud and ending 3/4 inch beyond it. • Then, slide the long end of the bud into the T shape cut made on the branch of the rootstock. Secure it with a rubber band. Repeat the above steps 3-4 times till all healthy buds are used. • Remove the rubber bands after 3-4 weeks when buds begin to open. When new branches will mature, avocado fruit will be produced. • Keep a check on sunburn protection and do not let the buds dry out.
