Aims & Outcomes Unit aim The aim of this unit is to provide the learner with the craft and visual knowledge along with skills to present images for viewing coherently, maximising the potential impact and effectiveness of the images. Learning outcomes There is one outcome to this unit. The candidate will be able to • Present images for viewing

  4. Assessment and grading This unit will be assessed by an externally set assignment which is internally assessed. The assignment will comprise of one practical task and one knowledge-related task: • Present images • Written account

Presentation methods Window mounting, card mounting (with and without overlays) foam board, presentation wallets, digital presentation programmes, prints (any output method on paper, including silver gelatine, c-prints, colour inks), projections, books, canvases, encasings . Materials Mounting card, foamboard, wet/dry mount materials, cold mount materials, spray adhesives, tape adhesives, laminating film, printing companies/software, framing. Equipment Cutting tools including hand held, rotary trimmers, guillotines, projectors, light box, laminator, storage media, darkroom equipment for printing, digital printers (high quality digital image files).

Underpinning knowledge The candidate will be able to: 1. outline the ideal working environment 2. describe methods of producing final images 3. describe the purpose and use of image presentation skills 4 .identify materials and equipment 5. compare the visual impact of different materials and presentation methods 6 .outline the hazards when using materials and equipment 7 .describe legal and ethical considerations. Assessment criteria Practical skills The candidate will be able to: 1. maintain the working environment 2. select presentation method 3. use materials and equipment effectively 4. produce final images 5. prepare and present images for viewing 6. produce a portfolio of images.

Methods of producing final images Reversal film (transparencies), digital image files for projection electronically, or for presentation with digital presentation software, printing (any output method on paper, including silver gelatine, chromegenic dye, colour inks). Use of image presentation skills Personal portfolio, presentation of commissioned work, presentation of work fit for intended purpose. Hazards Inadequate ventilation, manual handling, faulty electrical equipment, airborne hazards, equipment. Legal and ethical considerations Intellectual property rights, obscenity, confidentiality, images of minors.

  11. Assignment 211 :Presenting photo images :Tasks For unit 211 you have to complete two tasks...... • Task 1) Present images • Use a presentation method to present 10 thematic images. The images captured either assignment may be used (pick your strongest) . • Task 2) Produce a written account • Produce a written account for task 1a) above which: • Shows research in to at least sixdifferent ways to present photographs • Carry out research into costing of a finished product both wholesale and retail • explains the choice of presentation method • describes the methods used to present the final images • contrasts the presentation method with an alternative method of presentation using different materials.
