The Survey • Exploration of climate surveys at other Universities • Develop questions that focus on: • Structural diversity (Systems look) • Diversity of faculty, staff, administrators, and students • Programmatic – Policies, programs, processes • Psychological Climate • Perceptions about aspects of campus diversity • Behavioral/intergroup campus climate • Recruitment/retention • Event attendance Office Of Diversity and Inclusion

Climate Study Process • Definition of Diversity • Reasons for the importance of Diversity • Goals for Diversity • How the goals will be achieved Planning • Gather Data: Focus groups, interviews, Surveys, Systems review • Analyze findings Data Gathering & Analysis • Develop recommendations and key next steps • Timetables for implementation • Schedule follow-up progress meetings Report & Recommendations • Articulate to all faculty, staff and students diversity objectives, policies and initiatives through newsletters, intranet, seminars , posters and memorandums • Enhance diversity website Implementation • Numerical metrics • Diversity Score Card • Staff meeting discussions • Annual employee/student surveys Evaluation

  5. Climate Assessment Projected Timeline Spring 2012 February Phase I. Initial proposal meeting with the CSWG Phase I. Meetings (conference calls) with the CSWG to begin work on the assessment tool Phase I. Review of salient data and other information as provided by the CSWG Mar-May Phase II. Begin Development of assessment tool * Development and delivery of Test survey Phase II. Development of Communication and Marketing Plan Summer 2012 June Phase II. Continue and complete assessment tool July/Aug Phase II. IRB Proposal Development Approval projected-Aug 15, 2012 Fall 2012 Sept/Oct Phase III. Survey Administration *Development of survey invitations, reminder communications, prizes Nov-Jan Phase III. Data Analysis Spring 2013 FebruaryPhase IV. Development Report Mar/Apr Phase IV. Presentation of Report to community May Phase IV. Facilitate Planning Retreat (to be determined at the completion of Phase IV) Office Of Diversity and Inclusion
