  1. 專 題 演 講 Carbon and cement-matrix and polymer-matrix composite materials for structural self-sensing, vibration damping, electromagnetic shielding and thermal contact improvement Professor Deborah D. L. Chung University at Buffalo State University of New York 鍾端玲 教授 Top-performance materials in various forms of carbon have been developed by the speaker for structural self-sensing, vibration damping, electromagnetic shielding and thermal contact improvement. These applications are currently needed for the aircraft, transportation, construction and electronic industries. The forms of carbon include carbon fiber, carbon nanofiber, exfoliated graphite, carbon black and composite materials. The technological needs, science base, material design criteria and structure-property relationships will be covered. Chung has researched on carbon for 35 years and is an international leader in this field. She received the PettinosAward (a triennial international research award) from the American Carbon Society in 2004, a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1977 and M.S. and B.S. degrees from California Institute of Technology in 1973. She was named Niagara Mohawk Endowed Chair Professor, State University of New York (Buffalo) in 1991. Her publications include 500 archival peer-reviewed journal papers and 8 books. Her authored books include Functional Materials (World Sci., 2010) and Composite Materials (Springer, 2010). 時間:5月18日(三)下午2:00 地點:土木系館地下一樓第三會議室 主辦單位: 國立台灣大學土木系 補助單位: 行政院國家科學委員會 協辦單位: 國立中興大學土木系 國家地震工程研究中心
