  1. Photo Story of Diane Walsh and Lana Walsh By: Madeline Davis JRN 102 Exploratory Project November 19, 2012

  2. My Project • I chose to do a photo story on a single-parent adoptive family. • Through my pictures I tried to show the relationship between my subjects. • My first subjects were my Aunt Diane and cousin Lana Walsh.

  3. My Process • I followed Diane and Lana Walsh on vacation for two days. • I spent roughly 10 hours in the lab editing and toning my pictures, and putting this together. • To stay on track with what I was working on and how I wanted to show it, I wrote journals.

  4. Projects Intent • Through my pictures I hope to show the relationship between mother and daughter. • I hope to shed light to the idea that societies view of families arechanging. • I hope to help people see another view of single parenthood.

  5. Statistics • 25% of adoptions are International. • Roughly 28.2% of adoptions are of single adults. • 22.7% of single adult adoptions are by women. • Lana Walsh was among 6% of children adopted from ages 0-2.

  6. Quotes from Diane during theInterview “Lana and I were meant be mother and daughter, we just took a different route than others.” “Lana may not have a father but she has a great father figure in her Uncle, which is more than most.” “There are difficulties in an parent and child relationship, it’s how you deal with the difficulties that make or break you. And I feel we deal with them quite well.”
