  1. The Greatness of the Christ Do you feel that in your Christian walk you are survivinginstead of thriving?

  2. The Greatness of the Christ • Your spiritual growth is linked to the size of your vision of Christ. • A narrow view of Christ, limits your spiritual growth. • Once you see the fullness and glory of Christ in the Scriptures, your lives will be enlarged.

  3. Christ the Creator • Gen 1:1, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Link between the opening of Genesis and John. • John 1:1, 3 “In the beginning was the Word… All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.”

  4. Christ the Creator • Christ created us to glorify God andenjoy Him forever. • When we stop looking to the things of the world to satisfy us, and grow in our vision of Christ in His Word, we thrive.

  5. Christ the Creator • Christ’s creation was set to music: • “Who is this that darkens my counsel with words without knowledge? Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone—while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?” Job 38:2-7

  6. Christ the Creator Because Christ is our Creator We owe Him our allegiance and worship

  7. Christ the Life John 1:4 “In Himwas life, and the lifewas the Light of men.”

  8. Christ the Life Christ is the source of life • Gen 1:1, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”. • John 1:3-4, “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life”.

  9. Christ the Life Genesis 2:7 “the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”

  10. Christ the Life 1 Corinthians 1:26–29 “Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise … so that no one may boast before him.”

  11. Christ the Life • We are wonderfully and fearfully made, but never forget that we are but dust. Christ is the One who breathed life into man and He deserves all glory.

  12. Christ the Life • “Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam [Jesus] became a life-giving spirit.” 1 Cor 15:45 • We are His creatures and He is our Creator – we must follow Him.

  13. Christ is the Light John 1:5 “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

  14. Christ is the Light • The title ‘Word’ and ‘Light’ both point to Christ as the revelation of God.

  15. Christ is the Light • The darkness in the fall and at Calvary (cross) could not overcome the Light. • Christ is still shining today! • His light chases away chaos • His light reveals sin • His light guides us as we follow Him

  16. The Greatness of Christ • The larger your vision of Christ – the more you will thrive and not merely survive.

  17. The Greatness of Christ Psalm 23. “The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake” (Ps. 23:1–3).

  18. The Greatness of Christ • Only our Creator, Who is Life and Light can bring us such satisfaction, purpose, and fulfillment. • Grow in your knowledge of Him and experience the joys of increasingly finding Him to be the bread of life that satisfies all our hunger and the water of life that quenches our deepest thirst.
