  2. THE HISTORY OF I-728 • In November, 2000, 72% of our voters supported I-728 as a new source for education reform • I-728 was our opportunity to make a difference to improve student learning and teaching beginning Fall 2001 • Funds are distributed to district based on student FTE

  3. Reduction of class size in grades K-4 Selected reduction in class size in grades 5-12 Extended learning opportunities for students Professional development for teaching staff Early assistance for pre-kindergarten students Building improvements and additions related to class size reduction SIX CATEGORIES OF I-728

  4. Development of CVSD I-728 Plan • 2000/01 Reconfiguration called for a K-12 Academic Program Review • The Academic Committee was comprised of K-12 principals, ESC administrators, CVEA representative, and PSE Representative/Parent • The plan was an outgrowth of the review of K-12 Program and study of I-728 parameters

  5. Development of CVSD I-728 (cont) Reviewed each year by: Parent Advisory Committee(PAC) Staff Advisory Committee(SAC) Committee for Teaching & Learning(CTL) • Look for data to document impact of each component • Recommendations taken to the Board annually • Plan approved as part of district budget • We must allow for annual increases in staffing costs

  10. Annual report to OSPI and the A+ Commission Report includes number of students impacted, activities conducted, and hard data that demonstrates the impact each program has had, including pre/post data, test results, etc. ACCOUNTABILITY

  11. PROJECTION FOR YEAR 42004-05 **Year 4 is only a projection and may be reduced due to deficits in the state budget
