  6. (Rev 11:1-2) And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

  7. Rebuilding the Temple I. ITS LOCATION

  8. JERUSALEM

  9. (Rev 11:8) And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

  10. Rebuilding the Temple II. ITS HISTORY

  11. Rebuilding the Temple III. ITS DILEMMA

  12. A. The promise that it will happen

  13. There are several prophecies in the bible that in order to be fulfilled, there must be a real physical temple rebuilt in Jerusalem by the midway of the tribulation NOTES

  14. (Dan 9:27) And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. (Mat 24:15-16) When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

  15. (2Th 2:4) Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

  16. B. The pieces that have lead up to it happening

  17. To fulfill the prophecy there must be… • The Jews must be in the Land (1948) • They must control Jerusalem (1967) • There must be a Temple built by the Mid way of the tribulation (?) NOTES

  18. C. The peace treaty that will allow it to happen

  19. (Dan 9:27) And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

  20. (Dan 7:20) And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows. (Dan 8:24) And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

  22. In A.D. 692, Abd al-Malik completed the construction of The Dome of the Rock. It is believed that The Dome of the Rock was built by Abd al-Malik for political reasons. He wanted to relieve a rival caliph in Mecca of some of his influence and authority. So, Abd al-Malik built a beautiful structure that would serve as a holy shrine for Moslems To make The Dome of the Rock a "holy" shrine for Moslems, Abd al-Malik made the claim that Mohammed was taken up into the seventh Heaven from this rock one night to meet with Allah. NOTES

  23. Dr. Asher Kaufman is an archeologist that has studied the temple site and the ancient documents for many years. He is convinced that the original temple stood 322 feet north of the Arab “dome of the rock”. If you look, there is a little flat rock outcropping called the “Dome of the Spirits” or the “dome of the tablets”. Dr. Kaufman believes this is where the “Holy of Holies” was located in Solomon’s temple.

  24. The Holy of Holies is thought to have been located on the bedrock covered by this small area today where the little Dome of the Spirits is located. Dr. Kaufman noted that the bedrock inside this little domed area is the only such bedrock appearing on the Temple Mount –it sticks up from the surface.

  25. (Isa 28:18-19) And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.
