  3. InfraGard Beginnings InfraGard is a program of the Federal Bureau of Investigation that began in the Cleveland Field Office in 1996. It was a local effort to gain support from the information technology industry and academia for the FBI’s investigative efforts in the cyber arena. The program expanded to other FBI Field Offices, and in 1998 the FBI assigned national program responsibility for InfraGard to the former National Infrastructure Protection Center (NIPC), and to the Cyber Division in 2003.

InfraGard Evolution… A change in the structure of InfraGard membership (adopted in June 2004 at the InfraGard National Congress in Wash, DC) defines an InfraGard Chapter as being the combination of the sponsoring FBI Field Office and the members of InfraGard, known as an InfraGard Members Alliance...

  5. InfraGard “ A cooperative undertaking between the U.S. Government (the FBI) and an association of businesses, academic institutions, state and local law enforcement agencies, and other participants dedicated to increasing the security of United States critical infrastructures. “

So, What is InfraGard again? • An association of individuals, businesses, academic institutions, and state and local government offices supported by the FBI. • Goal: Enable exchange of information so that the Critical Infrastructure can be better protected and U.S. government can better discharge its law enforcement and national security responsibilities • 13,000+ members nationwide
