    1. DETEC Receives the 2006 PEO STRI STAR Award On June 10, 2006 at the Orlando, FL Army Birthday Ball, the Directed Energy Test and Evaluation Capability (DETEC) Project was recognized as the 2006 recipient of the Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) Team Achievement Recognition (STAR) Award for project execution. The STAR Award recognizes team excellence in the implementation of acquisition reform streamlining principles. Six factors were used to evaluate the project execution category: Utilization of Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), Optimization of Resource Expenditures (Government and Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance), Application of Cost as an Independent Variable (CAIV) Principles, Maximizing Partnering Principles, Reductions in Life-Cycle Costs, and Use of Innovative Project Activities to Maintain the Acquisition Program Baseline (APB). DETEC’s Project Director Mr. Minh Vuong accepted the STAR Award and acknowledged his Government and industry teammates for their contributions to the successful execution of the project. DETEC is managed under Project Manager Instrumentation, Targets, and Threat Simulators (PM ITTS) within PEO STRI and implemented by the DETEC Lead Systems Integrator (LSI) contractor, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). Additionally, DETEC’s multi-Service and geographically distributed Family of Systems IPT, Domain IPTs, and Capability IPTs have been instrumental in addressing stakeholder requirements. They are integral and critical elements in the continuing success of the project’s accomplishments.
