  1. The Amazing Ants Miss Miguel 3rd Grade 2007-2008

  2. Physical Characteristics Ants have many different charateristics. They are mostly red, black, yellow, orange, and brown. Their body parts consist of their stomach, head, oval tail, and delicate wings. One fascinating detail about ants is that they have litle spikes on their body.

  3. Many Ways to Find Food Ants work as a team to find food. They know the scents trail to find food. If the food is heavey, they rush back for help.

  4. Intersesting Behavior Ants build a nest and gather food for the young and protect the group. They use their claws to build a cavity. The queen ant does not leave the nest to look for food. On a nice day, the working ants carry the little ones for some sun.

  5. People Face Problems with Ants Ants get in people’s food. Some ants also bite and bother people. Make sure to clean after you eat and as a reminder, don’t leave food out.

  6. Glossary • Cavity- a hollow place or a hole • Food source- place or thing from which food comes from • Queen ant- mother of all the other ants in the colony • Scents- smell
