In your notebook set up a place for Denaturing Enzyme Lab Class Results • How does HEAT affect enzymes? • Boiling enzymes denatures some enzymes but not all • Maybe needed to boil them longer • Heat doesn’t make enzymes completely useless, just less effective • How does extreme pH affect enzymes? • Lemon juice (acid) and bleach (base) denature enzymes • Hydrochloric acid is not consistent but using more works better • Maybe household items work better than pure acids?
