  2. THE TASK • Review educational area in the CERN webpage and make suggestions • What to keep • What to discard • What to change • How to organize it

  3. THE PROCESS • Classify resources according to selected criteria. • 5 best ones, 5 worst ones and reasons • Analyze structure and navigation • Collect problems found • What is missing

  4. CRITERIA • Who are the resources suitable for? teachers, students or classroom? • What age group are they suitable for? • What subject do they belong to? Relevancy in the curriculum was considered not a suitable criteria as different countries have different curricula.

  5. BEST ONES • Bubble chambers • Antimatter • Using Feynman Diagrams to illustrate particle interactions • The Powers of Tens • The LHC Game • The Mistery of Antimatter

  6. NOT THAT GOOD • Playing with Quarks • Technology Transfer • Small Effects in the classroom • About the Standard Model • The Toolkit to construct Feynman Diagrams • The Universe Game

  7. PROBLEMS FOUND • Very difficult navigation • Confusing structure: not obvious • Language limitations • Search engine does not work • Same resources under different names • Movies are too long

  8. WHAT IS MISSING • Resources translated into a number of languages. • More computer simulations • CERN for Kids section at their level • Famous names at CERN section • Navigational tree • Educational Resources Search engine • Fields such as Brief summary or Keywords to classify and search for resources.

  9. THE OUTCOME • List of recommendations • Proposal of new structure for the page • Proposal of new games

  10. LIST OF RECOMMENDATIONS • Restructure the main page of Education at CERN. • Creation of a Library for Teachers with articles, documents, live lectures, long movies, photos and posters. • Future live webcasts should be broken down into 15 min slots.

  11. PROPOSAL OFSTRUCTURE

  12. VISITS TO CERN

  13. Educational Resources

  14. Teachers

  15. Particle Physics

  16. NEW GAMES • ILLUSTRATED PLAYING CARDS • BUILDING THE LHC

  17. MICROCOSM SHOP • Why a shop? • The actual shop.

  18. Recommendations for the Shop • More attractive and bigger posters • More postcards, more with tracks, more beautiful • More games and gadgets • Kits for experiments such as Cloud Chamber, Accelerators… • Books and materials for Kids • More books on display in several languages and with a little presentation of the content. • Seating area to look at them • A little summary of each DVD and a DVD station to watch them. • A little guide of microcosm exhibition • A shop on line
