  2. Types of Architectural Concepts The field of architecture is challenging. However, only efficient architects can succeed in the field. There are certain concepts that create a framework for the architects and facilitate them to create appealing as well as user-friendly designs. The concepts are classified into five types. They are as follows:

  3. Analogies: To Look at Other Things An analogy is one of the most important concepts of architecture. It identifies or establishes a literal relationship between different things. In this concept, a thing that possesses desired characters and qualities is considered as the role model for other projects. In direct analogies of architecture, one building can be used as a guideline or standard for other buildings.

  4. Through this relation, an architect can find various solutions straightforwardly. Analogies are categorized as primary analogies (includes nature, human body, etc.), disciplinary analogies (architecture’s existing examples) and those in relation to different fields such as literature, art or music.

  5. Metaphors or Similes: To Look at Abstraction Metaphor is similar to analogy in terms of creating an abstract relationship (not literal) with varied things. Similes express a relationship by making the use of words like, “as” or “like”. However, the only difference between analogies and metaphor is that analogies can identify literal relationships whereas metaphors/similes can spot parallel relationships.

  6. Essences: To Look Beyond Programmatic Concepts Under the concept of the essence in architecture, all the complex issues and their aspects are concentrated into explicit statements. In a nutshell, the essence of the project is captured. Further, the statement of essences is just a result of discovering as well as identifying different causes of an issue. It gives insights to analyze the issues properly.

  7. Direct Response or Problem Solving: To Look at Requirements Till date, the mentioned concepts are not enough to captivate project’s complete essence and symbolize functions. There are some realistic issues in building a program which leads to the development of concepts.

  8. Moreover, various architects are completely involved in solving the client’s issues but only a few are able to do it. These architects are able to make a pragmatic loom to resolve the issues entirely along with being inspired at the same time.

  9. Ideals: To Look at Universal Values The above-listed ones relate to the insights gained by an architect towards an issue and then finding the appropriate concept. But, the ideal concept relates to the problems. If an architect’s choice of bringing a concept is apt enough, then he will be praised but if it proves to be inapt, then their proficiency is questioned. Ideal concepts are undeniably an illustration of the architect’s defined goals and aspirations.
