Some Characteristics of State Libraries • Develop library services statewide through leadership, advocacy, consulting, etc. • Administer state and federal funding for libraries statewide • Develop and operate statewide electronic information networks • Provide special library operations such as services for the blind and physically handicapped • Play a primary role in interlibrary loan services • Play a primary role in consortia activities: purchasing, networking, etc.
