  • The trade winds push water east to west. This creates an ocean current.

  • The trade winds push the storms and hurricanes to the west.

  • Trade winds cool the water at the surface.

  • As the trade winds push the water to the west, it starts to pile up.

  • The trade winds have weakened or stopped. Because the trade winds are weak, the ocean currents are not being pushed to the west and the water at the surface warms up.

  • The sea begins to flatten out dropping in the west and rising in the East. The water that was “piling” up in the west sloshes back to the east.

  • The more is warms the more it causes the trade winds to weaken.

  • The air above the ocean becomes warm and moist. This causes heavy rains. The change in ocean temp cause the rain and storms to move east.
