Shuga in Zambia: A Case Study • Working with national broadcaster, UNICEF and local media agency • Shuga was aired in local cinema on World AIDS Day reaching 2,000 people • Attached testing service and condom distribution to screening • 5x1 hour radio show during broadcast of Shuga on national and private broadcast channels • Training of peer educators and distribution of SAIB • Online bloggers from Zambia

  4. Shuga in Francophone Africa • Working with UNICEF and national broadcasters in Benin, Burkino Faso and Senegal • Shuga translated into French • Aired on national broadcasters • UNICEF to distribute Shuga in French to peer outreach groups

  5. Challenges and Lessons Learnt • Partnerships: MTV Staying Alive partners with broadcasters. Funding partners can roll out Shuga as an educational tool • Shuga can be used to reach young people with core issues to reach your organizational objectives • Monitoring reach and use of Shuga is an on-going process that requires on the ground support • Shuga crosses borders as issues and storylines resonate with young people
