  3. Section 1 – revision timetable (XMAS) • The following topics must be covered over the holidays and converted into flashcards/notes/revision cards/etc… • Exploring socialisation, culture and identity (yellow bible): • T1 – formation of culture, • T2 – socialisation, • T3 – social class identities, • T4 – gender identities, • T5 – ethnic identities, • T6 – age identities.

Section 1 – revision timetable (XMAS) • The following topics must be covered over the holidays and converted into flashcards/notes/revision cards/etc… • Exploring the research process (pink bible): • S.A – key ideas in methods, • S.B – qualitative approaches (ethnography), • S.C – quantitative approaches (questionnaire surveys), • S.D – choice of methods (theories, ethics and practical issues).

Recap • Question 1 • Clear and detailed textbook definition + 2 examples using evidence. • Question 2 • P.E.E x 2 linking back to the question • Question 3 • Introduction defining the key concepts in question and identification of theoretical standpoint which you will use. • PEEC x 4 linking back to the question. • Question 4 • Introduction explaining the method/research approach in focus and theoretical standpoint (positivism vs. interpretivist), • 6 paragraphs • Conclusion

Task 1 • Individually or in pair complete using your sociology bible (yellow) as many of the potential 8 markers you have been provided. • You have 15 minutes to complete this task. • The key words which you have been provided on this list are all the potential ones which could come up in the exam. So try to be as clear and neat as possible as this will become a useful revision tool.

  8. 52 marker – structure • In order to achieve 52 marks, you will be required to do the following: • Introduction: explain the key concepts identified in the question in this case, quantitative, non participant observations. Add sentence which demonstrates the theoretical perspectives which will favour it. • Evaluative paragraph per aspect of GROVER (6) and evaluate using a positivist or interpretivist argument. • Conclusion: conclude on the overall use of the method in order to research the subject matter using your strongest strength and strongest weakness.
