  4. Plot Analysis Continued • Chart the plot of “The Lottery” (refer to your notes and your TMDG chart; use page numbers on rising action). Underneath the chart, include internal and external conflicts, and any foreshadowing or flashback that occurred. • Discussion Question: Compare/contrast the plot of TMDG with “The Lottery” and revisit the question we asked for TMDG…Is the plot or character development more powerful in this story? • Final step: Choose particular passages that are important to the plot in each story. Explain how the word choice helped create a feeling for the reader.

  5. Follow-up Questions • Which makes a better story…the devil winning or the person winning and why? • Why has this particular archetype endured for so long? What is that people see in the story? How could they possibly relate?
