Vibe : Low-Power Wireless Body Motion Sensor

What is Vibe?

  • Vibe is a low-power, wireless body motion sensing platform.
  • Vibe can network with up to 5 additional devices to create a wireless Body Area Sensor Network.
  • Vibe has a 6-axis IMU for advanced motion tracking.
  • Internal extended storage allows Vibe to log motion data for analysis by physicians, researchers.
  • Rechargeable battery with >1 week battery life for a typical application.*

Motivation

  • Mother of a child with chronic epilepsy was required to sleep in close proximity of her son to medicate before onset of a seizure.
  • Envisioned Vibe as a body tremor sensor to detect onset of seizures and alert caretaker.
  • Development and deployment to researchers of a wireless body motion sensor with a rich and easy to use API.
  • No current product on the market that has the feature set of Vibe.

    • Integrated Sub-GHz Radio
    • Hardware Accelerated 128-bit AES Encryption
  • 6-axis IMU
    • VTI 3-axis Accelerometer with only 10μA Current Consumption
    • ST 3-axis MEMS Gyroscope
  • Large External Flash
    • SST 16Mbit external flash for system data (e.g. text fonts) and sensor data storage.
  • 65k Color OLED Display
    • Ultra-compact
    • Vivid display for a rich UI.
    • Low-power compared to LCD
  • Rechargeable Lithium-Polymer Battery
