  2. Demining in the Middle East is an issue that needs to be tackled • Mines alone have killed countless US troops and civilians. So many have died that records of casualties can’t keep up with the number

  3. Many mines are being placed in order to stop US convoys on roads and kill foot soldiers in cities But about half the time it ends up detonating on a civilian

  4. Unfortunately, the UN isn’t doing much to aid in the Demining projects in the Middle East • Most of the work is being done by local US troops and local governments but some don’t even bother

  5. Demining in the Middle East will not likely be addressed until the US conflict in that part of the world has ended • The resolution will likely be left to the local governments to handle by sweeping and disarming the mines with demining parties
