Diyarbakır • Diyarbakır Situated on the banks of the River Tigris, it is the administrative capital of the Diyarbakır Province with a population of almost 1.5 million, and it is the second largest city in Turkey's South-eastern Anatolia region, after Gaziantep and it is the 7th big city in turkey.   4. Diyarbakır • Within Turkey, Diyarbakır is famed for its culture, folklore, and watermelons. The population of Diyarbakır is made up predominantly of Kurdish people. Rural to urban movement has often been the first step in a migratory pattern that has taken large numbers of Kurds from the east to the west.   13. Migrants from France in Diyarbakır • Family lived in France about 18years and their children lived there for 10 years. Some of their children were borned there. But later this family decided to come back to Diyarbakır because of cultural problems. (Their financial situation was better in France. Father of the family was the owner of the construction company and they did not have financial problems in France.) They thought that their family ties will be damaged there and this was their reason to come back.   17. Migrants from Diyarbakır to Europe • Women migrants from Turkey are not working at France. They started tolive in France after they got married with Turkish person who is citizen of France. Most of them are children of people who came France 1970’s. Because of this, those women are in subjection to their husbands. Those women do not have French friends and they are in touch with the Turkish families who are living in France and they are isolated to other communities in France. • Those women are feeling good with someone who are living like them, they have so many common interests and problems. The second reason of this isolation is; people afraid to be part of French culture. Those women afraid to be free because they think that when they are free they will lose their personal values. Because of this they do not want to integrate and need to French society. They are still imaging about 1970’s Turkey. After social and cultural changes, Turkey started to take place in Europe but they still dreaming about the Turkey in 1970’s. Because of this problems Turks in France can not take place in France society. One more problem is language. Language problems bring less-communication. Without communication they cannot go shopping, cannot use public transport cannot tell their problems to doctors and they can not explain about themselves clearly and they can not solve their social problems with French people… Şahin DEMİRKOL, Serkan EKMEN, INTEGRA
