  2. Format • Test is divided into two sessions. • Morning session & Afternoon session • Morning session is related to information provided in a “District Profile Packet.” • Afternoon session is unrelated to district packet, and consists of decisions sets and individual questions.

  3. Topic Evaluation Evidence Action Step A. B. C. D. Morning Session A: Global Evaluation The correct answer will be the one that contains the correct evaluation, evidence and action step. All three columns have to be correct for the right answer.

  10. The Proficiencies • Our preparation is driven by the SBEC proficiencies and the language utilized. This will provide important clues during the exam sessions. • You are encouraged to use SBEC’s study guide. • Group/ individual (?) questions need to address the proficiencies. • Sort the proficiencies: Test yourselves

  11. Cohort I Suggestions • Go through review, inc. district packets early. • Practice developing questions & answers in groups; ensure validity. • Focus on quality, not quantity; incorporate language of competencies. • Group writing & editing of questions following each session (Caskey, Albritton, other presenters). • Provide explanation for each question. • Utilize articles and other reading assignments to help in question development. • Pace question-writing over time. • Critique questions prior to loading into test.

  12. Preparation Is The Key! • If we… • consider the applicability of each assignment to the proficiencies; • digest the language of the test, keeping the proficiencies in mind • analyze each question and answer, considering all the data… …then we will pass the TExES!
