  2. Tilbakeblikk • Task 12: “PV-environmental health and safety (EH&S) activities” • Foreslått på 25. IEA PVPS ExCo Møte i Melbourne - april 2005 • “Task definision meeting” i Barcelona - juni 2005. • 27. IEA PVPS ExCo Møte i London - april 2006 • ExCo USA - følge opp teknisk ledelse av Task 12 • ExCo EPIA - følge opp administrasjon av prosjektet • ExCo medlemmer støtter deltakelse i “EPIA’s EH&S Workshop” • ExCo medlemmer støtter deltakelse i “Task 12 Workplan” møte • “IEA PVPS Task 12 EHS Activities Meeting” gjennomført med ekspertpanel i september 2006. • Resultater av Dresden møte danner grunnlaget for presentasjonen -CREATING FUTURE- Pioneering spirit Teamwork Accurate Enthusiasm

IEA PVPS ExCo møte, 26-27 oktober 2006 i Korea. • Task 12 visjon: “Task 12 aims in fostering international collaboration in the areas of safety and sustainability which are crucial for allowing PV to grow to levels enabling a major contribution in the needs of the member countries and the world. • Miljøvennlig energi rettferdiggjør satsing på solcelle-teknologi. -CREATING FUTURE- Pioneering spirit Teamwork Accurate Enthusiasm

-CREATING FUTURE- Pioneering spirit Teamwork Accurate Enthusiasm

  6. Arbeidsprogrammer som understøtter målsetningene: • Delmål 1: Kvantifisere miljøprofil Lifssyklus analyser-LCA SoG-Si Ingot Wafer Solcelle Moduler Systemer Bruker ? Energi Material Utslipp Sammenligning med alternative teknologier for energileveranse -CREATING FUTURE- Pioneering spirit Teamwork Accurate Enthusiasm

  7. Forts. Arbeidsprogrammer…. HMS og bærekraftige punkter med viktighet for markedsvekst • Delmål 2: PV-industri Material tilgjengelighet Resirkulering Hendelser Industri Myndigheter Offentlighet Fakta ark Rapporter -CREATING FUTURE- Pioneering spirit Teamwork Accurate Enthusiasm

  8. Konseptuell plan for HMS oppgaver De fleste oppgaver antas å være av generell interesse for alle interessegrupper Spesielle behov kan fremmes gjennom medlemslandets representant. -CREATING FUTURE- Pioneering spirit Teamwork Accurate Enthusiasm

  9. Beskrivelse av de enkelt aktiviteter • SubTask 1: Recycling of Manufacturing Waste and Spent Modules • Leaders: K. Wambach and EPIA/PVCycle • Objectives: · Assist the development of collection infrastructure by examining and evaluating the collection infrastructure of other recyclables (e.g., electronics, liquid crystal displays) • Enhance the interaction among industry players so that they share information and resources for collection and recycling • Show the technical and cost feasibility of collection and recycling (to environmental-policy makers, e.g., WEEE, RoHS) • Identify common tasks where financial resources can be shared (e.g., hydrometallurgical extraction of semi-metals from glass PV matrices, separation of EVA from the module). -CREATING FUTURE- Pioneering spirit Teamwork Accurate Enthusiasm

  10. SubTask 2: Life Cycle Analysis • Leaders: A. Alsema and V. Fthenakis • Objectives: • Establish and demonstrate, with comprehensive and transparent studies, that PV systems are safe and environmentally friendly in all their life-cycle stages. • Show the improvement trends of the PV environmental profile by certain indicators (e.g., EPBT, GHG emissions, waste reduction). • Continue showing such progress in annual updates over the course of Task 12 (5 years). • Valuate the environmental benefits of PV by showing avoided “external” costs. -CREATING FUTURE- Pioneering spirit Teamwork Accurate Enthusiasm

  11. Subtask 3: EH&S in Manufacturing Facilities • Leaders: V. Fthenakis, with Japanese and European EH&S specialists • Subtask Objectives: • Gather incident data and establish data-base to be shared by stake holders • Evaluate data, develop risk factors and compare with other energy technologies • Identify accident prevention and control options for specific technologies • Subtask 4: EHS Information Dissemination • The methods and results obtained from sub-tasks 1-3 above will be communicated and disseminated by various target-oriented communication tools, such as: • Short and simple “fact sheets”, documented by peer-review publications • Reports summarizing the activities undertaken for accomplishing the objectives of the task. • Presentations and peer-review publications -CREATING FUTURE- Pioneering spirit Teamwork Accurate Enthusiasm

  12. Leveranser, organisasjon og kostnader • Leveranser • a) REPORT #1- Workshop on recycling infrastructure in collaboration with PVCycle – • b) REPORT #2– Life Cycle Analysis standards for credible, well balanced and transparent studies • c) REPORT#3 -Workshop on Life Cycle Analysis / Benchmarking of the PV industry performance against other energy technologies • d) Fact Sheets summarizing the above • e) Incident data base for stakeholders (PV industry, insurance industry) • Organisasjon • Ikke avklart • Kostnader • Ikke avklart -CREATING FUTURE- Pioneering spirit Teamwork Accurate Enthusiasm

-CREATING FUTURE- Pioneering spirit Teamwork Accurate Enthusiasm
