  1. HM 10-6 • Mehrabian and Epstein (1972) developed the Questionnaire Measure of Emotional Empathy (QMEE) to assess “a vicarious emotional response to the perceived emotional experiences of others”.

HM 10-6 • The response to each item ranges from +4(very strongly agree) to –4(very strongly disagree), with neutral scoring of 0. • For scoring purposes, items 2, 3, 4, 6, 11, 13, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, and 33 should be reverse-scored (negative scores for agreement; positive scores for disagreement) • The scoring of the scale is obtained by summing the responses of all 33 items.

  3. HM 10-6 • Mehrabian and Epstein reported the following norms: men, M = 23, SD = 22; women, M = 44, SD = 21.
